1.2083 Stainless Steel Mechanical Properties:

DIN 2083 Steel low corrosion, high-alloy, low warpage steel for through hardening with excellent properties for mirror polishing as well as good photoetching, good machinability, high wear resistance and high dimensional stability

  • 1.2083 plastic mold steel :

    Martensitic stainless chromium steel for plastic moulds, excellent polishability and corrosion resistance in hardened condition, high wear resistance, high compression strength, through hardening, low distorsion, good machinability and photoetching properties. This grade can be produced on request by the process ESR and quenched and tempered condition.
  • DIN 2083 Steel Heat treatment: 


    750 to 800°C for about 2 to 5 hours
    slow controlled cooling of 10 to 20°C per hour to about 650°C;
    further cooling in air, max. 200 HB


    1000 to 1050°C
    15 to 30 minutes keeping curing temperature
    quenching in oil/compressed gas/hot bath
    obtainable hardness: 53 - 56 HRC


    slow heating to tempering temperature immediately after hardening, to 180 to 300 °C depending on desired hardness
    1 hour per 20 mm: min. 2 hours 
  • 1.2083 Steel Application:

    1.2083 stainless tool steel is ideally suited for plastic moulds, for acid aggressive plastics, PVC or acetates, recycled polymers etc ,and moulds for chemically aggressive plastics andplastics containing abrasive fillers, mould inserts, dies and gauges for PVC extrusions, screws and barrels for extruders,moulds for automotive, food, medical and optical industry such as spectacles, compact discs, lenses.
